Guess who’s got butterflies about her upcoming show? Yep, Madonna. The pop icon admits she’s got some nervous energy about singing at this Sunday’s Super Bowl Halftime Show. No pressure, right? Last year’s Super Bowl was the most watched television event … ever. Over 111 million eyeballs watched it.
“Oh my god, I’m so nervous … you have no idea,” the pop icon told Anderson Cooper on his daytime talk show Anderson, set to air Thursday.
“First of all, it’s the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is kind of like the holy of holies in America,” Madonna continued. “I’m going to come in halfway between the church experience and I’m going to have to deliver a sermon that’s going to have to be very impactful.”
On The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Madonna said in no uncertain terms that she’s doing something wholly original. “No nipples,” she laughed – paying catty homage to Janet Jackson’s infamous boob-flash a few years ago.
Can’t imagine why she’d be antsy. She performed at the Oscars in 1991 to a world-wide audience of over 1 billion people. Turns out she was nervous then too.
Though Madonna was sketchy about her upcoming set list, photographs reportedly taken over the weekend at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis showed the word “Vogue” lit up on the floor during stage-lighting tests, according to TMZ.com. Nicki Minaj is rumored to be a part of the show as well. It’s just a hunch — because she’s featured on Madonna’s new song, which Madge is expected to premiere at the Super Bowl.
When asked by Cooper what her viewers could expect from her performance, Madonna simply deadpanned, “Singing!”
You know where I’ll be on Sunday … glued to the TV set. And I’m nervous for her. Just Sayin’.
