Oh the joys of getting older. We get to look forward to loose skin, decreased muscle tone, memory loss, stiff joints, flabby areas that we never even knew could sag. Here’s the good news…it’s not necessarily your age that determines most of these dreaded transformations, but the physiological changes that accompany aging. And those changes can in large part be controlled by you by increasing your fountain of youth factor! Read More »

MANY years ago I decided to try the Master Cleanse, a hard-core version of Juice Cleansing. Mind you, I was every bit as active then as I am now. I exercised at least 5 days a week and had no real intention of slowing down over the next 10 days. (Bahaahahahahaah yeah right.) And I documented the entire 10 days in my journal. Read More »

Through the years there have been many philosophies I have subscribed to and methods I have followed religiously in the name of weight loss. Some have worked and some have failed. At this point in my career there are certain things I believe in 100%. I can honestly say it was not until the past two years that I rarely felt negatively about my body… Read More »

I grew up a hardcore athlete. At 6 years old I knew I wanted to play pro basketball and the next 20 years of my life were dedicated to making that dream a reality. I thrived by sweating, pushing, clawing, sprinting, lifting and driving myself to be the best. At 5’4 I had to be stronger, faster and smarter than my opponents. I have been lifting weights since I was 13 to give myself the competitive edge. Flexibility (and that included Yoga) was never really a priority in my training program. But it should have been. It can be so much easier to stay focused and fit in the middle of the summer. Well, some of you lucky Californians have beautiful weather year round…so you pretty much have NO EXCUSE! Just kidding. No matter what the reason or time of year, difficult times arise where you must find new and inventive ways to stay motivated. Read More »

As I was ordering my salad this week, I sat back and observed the woman in front of me picking her toppings. Her toppings included: goat cheese, cranberries, croutons, a mixture of vegetables and GOBS of salad dressing. I thought to myself …”you might as well go down to Joe’s Pizza on Carmine and have 3 slices of Pizza. It will be the same amount of calories and SO MUCH MORE FUN!” Just because something seems healthy does not necessarily mean it is after you have killed it with calories. Read More »

Here are five of the best fitness tools I see on the rise in 2012. They are actually a good blend of old and new. We are embracing techniques that are tried and true- a “going back to the basics” if you will, as well as embracing the future at the same time. We are broadening our brush stroke by combining different methods of workouts and the results should be refreshing and fun! Read More »

It’s the end of 2011 and we are all starting to focus on New Year’s Resolutions. But, before we jump to setting our goals I think it’s a good time to reflect on the year that we are wrapping up. It’s hard to understand exactly where we want to go without taking a moment to reflect. Read More »

Holiday season means travel and that means we step out of our routines. Many of us go home where we do not have access to a gym or we have limited time to spend on our fitness routines. Not all of us follow a routine religiously and a week away from our gym or fitness program can be a slippery slope. If you are someone who is easily derailed then you need to make sure you plan on working out while you are away. So, I’ve designed an easy, effective Holiday Fitness Program that requires little to no equipment to help you stay on track. Read More »

Let’s all just get real with ourselves for a hot holiday minute. The month of December is typically teed up to be a nutritional nightmare. We all had some sort of conversation with ourselves at the end of November, vowing not to wreak havoc on our routines and here we are looking at our party-heavy schedules. Many excuses and opportunities to destroy what we’ve worked so hard to accomplish so here’s my holiday ammunition to help you keep those nasty pounds away… Read More »

This past week I took 8 women south of the border to Tulum, Mexico for my inaugural DESTINATION TRAINING CAMP. For five days we worked out, practiced yoga, relaxed on the beach, got plenty of rest, ate amazing healthy food and had FUN. My vision for these excursions is to get everyone to SWEAT, BREATHE AND LAUGH. Read More »
